The Monet Society was founded by a collective of entrepreneurs, creators and Web3 technologists, inspired by the potential of decentralization and democratization of creative production.

The Society believes that creativity and creators are essential to building a better future for humanity. The Society believes that emerging technologies enable more powerful and equitable ways for individuals and groups to organize the creation and distribution of value.

The Monet Society is developing a roadmap to transition from founder-guided decision-making to a constitutionally governed decentralized autonomous organization.

Creativity is an invaluable source of innovation, culture, employment and personal fulfillment. However, many individual and independent creators today face significant challenges. These include difficulties in financing production of their art, products and services; lack of resources or skills to reach appreciative audiences and markets and limited knowledge and expertise to adequately protect their intellectual property rights.

Traditional models of funding, contracting, marketing, and monetization are administratively complex and expensive. As a result, many independent creators are at a significant disadvantage to larger, better-resourced corporate competitors. Intellectual property rights can be complex and expensive undertaking for independent creators seeking to ensure proper attribution, prevent theft or copyright infringement and in general receive a fair share of the value they create.

"Empowering Creativity for a Flourishing Future"

We envision a world where creativity is recognised and valued as cornerstone of innovation, culture, employment, and personal fulfillment. In this world, every creator, regardless of their resources, industry or background, has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully to human culture. We see a future where the socio-economic barriers that hinder creative production are dismantled, allowing for an explosion of art and innovation that enriches our societies and economies.

Mission and Areas of Focus

"Transforming the Creative Landscape through Decentralization and Empowerment"

Our mission is to support the transformation of creative industries by addressing challenges faced by individual and independent creators. Key focus areas of the Society and our members include:

  • Democratizing Access to Resources: Supporting innovative solutions for financing, promotion, sales and distribution, we aim to level the playing field, enabling creators to produce and monetize their art, products, and services.

  • Elevating Profiles and Market Reach: Supporting organizations and activities that equip creators with the necessary tools and skills to access appreciative audiences and markets, bridging the gap between their creations and potential consumers.

  • Safeguarding Intellectual Property: Recognizing the importance of intellectual property rights, we support development of knowledge, expertise and tools that empower creators to protect their work. This includes ensuring proper attribution, preventing theft or copyright infringement, and helping creators receive a fair share of the value they create.

  • Streamlining Traditional Models: Monet Society encourages and supports organisations and tools that simplify the traditional process of funding, contracting, marketing, and monetization. We support making them more accessible and less expensive for independent creators, who often find themselves at a disadvantage compared to larger, better-resourced entities.

Through these focus areas, The Monet Society aims to create a more equitable, accessible, and sustainable environment for creators from all walks of life. Our goal is not only to support and celebrate individual creativity but also to foster a global community where collective creative expression can flourish unimpeded.

The Monet DAO

A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) is a type of organization that is run using blockchain technology and smart contracts. In the context of the digital economy, a DAO could be designed to identify, recognize, and reward creators and stakeholders in creative industries such as music, film, and art.

The Monet Society is considering the establishment of a DAO to further decentralize the decision-making and operations to all token holders. The Monet DAO would operate using a set of transparent and objective rules that will govern how the DAO identifies, recognizes, and rewards creators and stakeholders. We invite interested parties to contribute to the development of our handbook and participate in the Monet Society by emailing us.
